This week, we had an update from an attorney in the office, Ann Hendrix. Ann Hendrix is actually the longest-serving attorney here at The Meyers Law Group besides myself and currently chairs the Civil Litigation Department. She was providing an update to the attorneys in the office as to recent changes over the last couple of years related to ensuring that women are treated fairly in the workplace. California has recently enacted legislation regarding The Equal Pay Act. In California, women are protected to be compensated the same as their male counterparts. That includes being compensated for the same or similar work that the men are paid for in the office or out on the field. If you are concerned that you aren’t compensated in the same manner as your male counterparts or that you’re given work assignments that are more difficult than your male counterparts, under California law, you do have protection.
